Penelope is a tiny bit on the young side just yet as it is recommended to start using around two years, however I am keen to get her learning about time! Especially since bringing the newborn home, it is absolutely imperative that at least one of the little ones is in a good sleep time routine! And I was very excited to try out the GroClock after thoroughly falling in love with my GroEgg that I have come to completely rely on all over again with the new baby.
Penelope has a habit of waking around 5 or 6am but will go back to sleep with a bit of gentle persuasion, and this is where I find the GroClock will come in super handy. She is already extremely perceptive and ‘sunshine’ is in her repertoire of familiar objects so we help her back to sleep at her 5am awakening by pointing out at actual get up time the presence of the sunshine on the clock! This will reinforce something she has already learnt which makes her happy and hopefully she will get into the habit of looking for the sunshine herself at the 5am wake ups and recognise its absence means it is still sleepy time.
The colour is lovely and has a calming effect in the room, which I am sure has already had a positive effect on sleep. And it came with the cutest little book ‘Sleepy Farm’ – Penelope really enjoys the story and it is helping us establish a good bedtime routine as she knows that following her bath and supper comes story time and then bed time; further familiarising with the clock!
A lovely product that I know Penelope will love more and more as she gets a bit older.

What a neat tool for teaching children beginning concepts of time! This is something I could have used a year ago when my toddler kept waking up too early in the morning. Great review! #PositivelyPosted

We love the Gro-clock! I find using it with the gro-anywhere blind has really helped my son and his sleeping. He’ll usually play in his room if his sun isn’t up yet! #thelist

We’ve had our gro clock for some time now and it worked well in the beginning! As with all attempts to make SH stay in bed eventually he finds a way around it. In his head only one star left meant it was time to get up! *FACEPALM* thanks for the book reminder will dig that out again. I’m looking forward to winter and darker mornings! #thelist

I keep looking at these and wondering if I should get one for my twins – I’m quite lucky that they have each other to play with in the mornings but it might remind them that not everyone wants to play in the early morning. #PositivelyPosted

We introduced ours way too early, in the desperation of an early waking one year old! It didn’t work, but, I think having it there as a familiar sight has meant it has worked, later on. Now 3, she often mentions how good she was waking up after the sun has come up (a double bonus in Summer). So I agree, don’t push it, but have it in the background as a subtle talking point – she’ll get there x MMT #babybrainmondays

We had one of these for our middle child as he tended to get up at 5am! It worked brilliantly and although still an early riser the clock helped him extend his sleep until after 6!

I’ve heard great things about the GroClock although we’ve never actually tried one out. Fingers crossed that it works for you and helps Penelope sleep in a little longer.
